As a Generalist counsellor I am able to provide a service for children and adults who are experiencing mental health issues and distress.  For example depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, relationship and family problems, life crises, adjustment issues and trauma.  To access this service under Medicare please discuss with your GP, a referral via a Mental Health Treatment Plan will enable you to access up to 10 sessions per calendar year, fees are $120 per session with a rebate of $79.05 from Medicare.

The aim of counselling is to help clients to talk about their concerns, provide a psycho-social assessment, develop appropriate coping strategies, greater functioning and wellbeing.

ABOUT ME

Since graduating in 1998, I have worked in a number of positions mostly as a trauma counsellor for the Department of Health working with victims of sexual assault and domestic violence in the Lower Hunter, Blacktown and Northern Illawarra areas.  I have also worked as a generalist counsellor in Community Health and worked as a foster care support worker with Centacare.

My practice is from a Trauma-Informed stance which is sensitive to trauma related issues.  It is strengths-based and recognises that symptoms are adaptive rather than pathological.  It emphasises physical and emotional safety and creates opportunities for survivors to rebuild a sense of control and empowerment in their lives.

I have been living in the Illawarra for 20 yrs with my husband and two children, I enjoy the outdoors and being creative.

If you would like further information you are more than welcome to contact me directly.
